I’ve really been lax about reading the last few years. So last week, I went and paid my fines, got out of library jail and jumped back on the reading horse. I hope to average one book a week. I prefer non-fiction, but who knows where this path will lead.
On this site, I’ll give a short review and tag all of my entries book2011.
The first book to fall was “Fall to Grace” by Jay Bakker.
Not to be cliche, but if you had told me I would be bowled over by the spiritual richness of a book by Jim and Tammy Fae’s punk-rock pastor son, I would have put the chances at slim. But, this book ready hit me hard with its message of saving grace more than any of the Mardel fodder I have stocking my shelves right now.
I got a really clear picture of how some of Christ’s parables fit into the whole puzzle of what grace means.
I could blog about 9,000 words on all of it, but I’ll leave this short and Tumblr-friendly.
God’s Grace sets us free. Not to be selfish jerks, but to graceful and grateful humans who love each other.
A great start to a learning Renaissance in my life, I would say.
